Morris Apartments

About the Project

The Morris Apartments project is one of the most interesting renovations the Wadden Electric team has been part of. Originally built in 1832, the Morris Street building was first purchased as a double residence by Enos Collins — at the time, Nova Scotia's wealthiest businessman — as a home for his daughters. In 1954, Gus and Helen Mandros bought the property, and it remained in their family until 2014, often opening its doors to newly arriving Greek immigrants throughout their decades of ownership.

Builders Nicolas and Devon Bezanson, working alongside their design team, transformed this historic property into a six-unit apartment complex — preserving and restoring several of the building's original features, including the brick fireplaces and original brick walls that give each unit its character. The goal was a renovation that respected the building's two centuries of stories while delivering modern, safe, and efficient apartment homes.

Wadden Electric handled every electrical aspect of the renovation. That meant a coordinated lighting layout design across all six units and the common areas, a full service upgrade to support modern multi-unit residential loads, and a complete re-wire throughout — all delivered while protecting the original brick, plaster, and millwork the project was built to celebrate.
