About the Project
Jib House takes its name from the coastal site itself — a triangular spit of land in Chester, Nova Scotia whose shape mirrors the jib sail at the bow of a traditional sailing boat. That connection between form and place runs through every detail of this home, which has been featured in multiple architecture and design publications since its completion in 2022.
Wadden Electric managed the full electrical and smart home scope of this new construction project, working alongside Omar Gandhi Architects and builder MRB Contracting from the earliest design stages. Prewiring during construction allowed every system to be planned and routed before drywall — eliminating the compromises that come with retrofit work and delivering a finished result that is invisible by design.
The home runs entirely on Control4, which ties together lighting, audio, video, shading, security, and climate into a single interface. Lutron HomeWorks with Ketra tunable lighting responds to natural light conditions throughout the day. A 60 kW standby generator ensures the home and all integrated systems stay online regardless of grid conditions.
