Hidden Wine Cellar
Custom electrical and home automation for a Halifax North End renovation built around an architectural lighting strategy.
About the Project
Set in Halifax's North End, the Hidden Wine Cellar project is a custom renovation where lighting design and millwork were planned hand-in-hand. Wadden Electric managed the full electrical scope — from service through to the final fixture trim — working closely with the design and build team to make the lighting itself a defining feature of the home.
Throughout the renovation, LED linear light beams were used to draw clean lines across ceilings and millwork details, while stairwell lighting was integrated into the structure rather than added on top of it. Fluxwerx Portal pendants — a designer favourite for their clean optical performance and architectural form — anchor the key gathering spaces.
Every circuit, every dimmer, and every junction was coordinated to keep the architectural language intact. The result is a home where the lighting reads as architecture, not as fixtures bolted onto a finished surface.
"When lighting is planned with the millwork — not after it — the architecture and the electrical scope finish as one."
